How do you do Fellow Kids?
A few hours ago, I just completed my first course since going back to school at 48 years old.
👆 It was actually a few days ago because I’m terrible at writing and getting shit done on time.
I’ve previously mentioned that I’m going through a massive career change. Leaving the tech industry to work in one that isn’t even closely related.
My partner and I attended a musical last week. A friend and her daughter joined us. We were chatting before the performance, and her daughter was talking about her struggles at school. She’s in university. She’s thinking about pivoting to a different profession but feels like it’s too late. She’s 23.
I’m not writing this to say she’s wrong for feeling that way. I get it. It doesn’t matter if you’re 23 or 53; change is scary, and your brain will come up with stupid reasons why you should stay put.
The illiterate of the twenty-first century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn. -Alvin Toffler
